According to Dr Roy Walford, UCLA, our bodies should sustain us at least 120 years. So why don’t they?
It is now generally accepted by the scientific community that many ageing symptoms and even premature death may be caused by accumulated toxins at a cellular level plus the damaging effects of free radicals. Toxins are a natural by-product of our normal metabolism but are also ingested through the breath, through food or liquids. Due to this toxic overload, we are unable to absorb or utilise food properly. Our blood becomes more viscous, slower and polluted. As our major internal transport system, it cannot make the required delivery of new nutrients.
A toxic waste dump in our body cells and a drastically compromised nutritional
delivery and waste removal system (lymph) means that today, even with advances
in medicine, we still hover below the Biblical four score and ten, with
much of our latter years spent in declining physical mobility and quality
of daily life.
So why do we get sick? Let’s look at what an oxygen free radical is.
In the atmosphere outside of our bodies, diatomic oxygen as 02 is relatively
stable. However within our bodies we manufacture small but significant quantities
of monatomic oxygen. This form of oxygen is active and unstable and seeks
to attach itself to molecules within our cells. This is caused by its atomic
form; it has one or more unpaired electrons; electrons seeking to rob our
body of matching electrons to achieve stability. If we breathe in 100 litres
of oxygen, 2 litres will become active oxygen. These are the famous free
radicals, highly aggressive and with great REDOX (Reduction/Oxidation) potential,
or ability to scavenge electrons. Like all of nature’s infinite balance,
strong REDOX potential is useful in substances that sterilize open wounds
and kill bacteria, but within the body, this same potential, released in
excess, is only potential for harm. Instead of fulfilling its designated
role of absorption and neutralization of putrefied body waste through oxidation,
it attacks healthy cells.
Putrefaction is not natural within the body. It occurs when the body is
unable to neutralize invasive microbes that attack and consume peptides,
amino acids and proteins of meat fish and eggs. Its effects are something
we are all familiar with in the form of foul smelling substances such as
hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, amines indoles phenols and scatoles. They manifest
in the digestive tract and are pathogenic. Hydrogen sulphide and ammonia
damages the liver. Amines are precursors to atopic dermatitis, urticaria,
and asthma. Indoles and Phenols are carcinogenic.
As Louis Pasteur once noted, the ‘inner terrain’ is everything.
If the inner terrain cannot repel microbiological attack, then the production
of putrefying material will be vastly increased. The body will then have
to fall back on its second line of defence and begin production of white
corpuscles known as Neutrophils, which are microscopic reactive oxygen factories.
It is not hard to understand that all this extra strain on the system is
the reason scientists attribute excess free radical production to premature
ageing or death.
It is essential that we have the ability to neutralize these excess free
radicals before they begin attacking healthy tissue. Healthy tissue, once
damaged, can more easily become the site of future cancer. By preventing
this oxidation of healthy tissue, we prevent disease.
How can we do this? The answer is deceptively simple; we supply the body
with a source of free electrons; electrons that can satisfy the free radicals’
urge to oxidize by donating their negative charge to the positively charged
free radicals. There are many such products on the market; vitamin C, vitamin
E, beta-carotene, and glutathione to name a few. All work at a molecular
level. This means that it requires one molecule to ‘carry’ one
free electron to one free radical. Water, however, with its simple molecular
structure, is the ideal transport system.
It is small enough to get into the cellular tissue quickly. It is soluble
enough to penetrate body mass and to pass through the digestive system.
However among all its advantages, there is one big disadvantage. It has
no negatively charged electrons to give away.
There are many water systems that claim that the water produced by their
filters have antioxidant abilities. However we are again saved by simplicity.
Water that is able to donate electrons to the body’s free radicals
has a negative REDOX potential. This is easily measured by a device known
as an ORP (Oxidation/Reduction Potential) Meter. These are even available
at a relatively low outlay (around $200) and test the water by immersion
of a probe, giving a digital readout in millivolts. If the water is negatively
charged, it has electrons to donate. If not, it is not much different to
a free radical in its need for union with negatively charge electrons. It
will rob your body of free electrons.
Summarizing, the 'RE' part of 'REDOX' is reduction, or the addition of an
electron. 'OX' (Oxidation) is the removal of an electron. Adding an electron
to your body adds energy. Reduction of an electron loses energy. Japanese
scientists researching water’s curative powers realized that while
the pH of water was important, the REDOX potential was far more important
because although correct pH is extremely important for daily functioning
of the blood system and in turn, every other body system, correct REDOX
plans for your future body health by reducing the effects of free radical
damage to the very cells your system is composed of!
It is important not to be taken in by products advertising antioxidant water
without test results.
Proof is simple; if the water can be tested to be negatively charged, it
is antioxidant. If not, it is not, even though it may reduce the positive
charge to a lesser evil, ie. it will rob your body of less electrons than
the water it processes.
If you are looking at any water device that claims antioxidant power, ask
for proof. If you are given highly ‘scientific’ answers that
you can’t understand, beware! This is not a complex test. ORP (Oxidation/Reduction
Potential) readings from water from all of our Ionizers will range from
below zero to -400mv.
How is this ORP achieved? In the case of water ionizer, a microscopically
controlled charge of electricity passes between two titanium electrodes.
This causes the necessary polarization of molecules in the in-flowing water
and creates a whole new form of water molecule called OH-. The byproduct
is an equally useful acidic H+. This restructured OH- water is a simpler
molecular form than the familiar H20, and is able to group itself with like
molecules in a molecular cluster around HALF the size of H20 molecular clusters.
Ionized water, negatively charged and restructured begins work immediately
it enters the body.
In the gut, it inhibits excess fermentation by reducing metabolites like
such as hydrogen sulphide, ammonia, amines, indoles, phenols and scatoles.
Cleaner and less odiferous stools are the result.
In the liver, Ionized water is able to infuse and hydrate far more effectively
than H2O. Everywhere in the body, Ionized water easily passes through cell
walls and with its alkalinity, begins the process of neutralizing and flushing
away acid wastes stored at a cellular level. Cells are able to grow and
mature without interference by free radicals.
Warning: Some products that do not have microprocessor control actually
claim similar ORP figures to those we quote here. ASK FOR PROOF! We have
tested these units and have never witnessed negative REDOX potential.
WHAT TO EXPECT
It is important that you consult your doctor before beginning any new health
modality, although unlike a new drug or exercise, we are simply advocating
the consumption of water, which has already been shown to be a healthy life
decision. The only conditions we are aware of that may be exacerbated by
the consumption of Ionized water are those related to an inability to manufacture
stomach acids.
Ionized water, through its restructured form, can increase your body’s
cells ability to absorb water and the nutrients the water may carry. It
is this initial effect that is referred to as a ‘healing crisis’
as toxic wastes begin to be flushed from cells where they may have been
stored for many years, and re-enter the body prior of being flushed out.
These waste substances still have the ability to cause symptoms and these
symptoms may be experienced in the first month. Remember; everyone is an
individual, and therefore everyone reacts differently. Absence of such symptoms
does not mean that nothing is happening as a result of your water choice.
Early effects may include radically increased energy levels, clarity of
mind, changes in eyesight, or less need for sleep. These will pass as your
system adjusts to the changed water.

DOES ALKALINE WATER DO?

With 70% of your body consisting of water, alkaline water intake is an obvious
way to change the very environment, or inner terrain in which your body
cells exist. For our cells to live in an acid environment is like living
in a greenhouse. Germs, pathogens, bacteria all thrive in such conditions.
Note that some water filter system sales people recommend water with a pH
of 7.5. Australians are not aware that under the Australian Water Quality
Guidelines, our tap water is required to pass from our taps at neutral pH
or slightly alkaline. In our home at Byron Bay, our water regularly arrives
with a pH of 7.7, so it would be useless to buy a device that can only deliver
minimal pH change. Scientists at Shiga University Japan researched this
very question and found that the best pH for water intake is between 8 and
9.5 pH. Make sure that any system you consider has the ability to control
pH electronically and precisely.
GOOD FOOD TASTING BETTER
We have found that Ionized water users regularly report enhanced taste for
food, plus an unexpected by-product; as they begin to become more alkaline
internally, many long-held food addictions may just drop away. The Body-Mind
has made a decision based on the way it feels and you may suddenly decide,
for no apparent health reason, to give up coffee, or fatty products, or
